Schip ahoy everyone! Hop on my houseboat to discover a new kind of living experience. The north side of the city center is a very popular area to live, because of its great water views and the MAS museum. Of course also for its trendy bars and restaurants, but we'll save that for another article, I think you know what I mean. Apartments with this view are limited, so to have the privilege to be able to wake up with this view every day is an advantage worth considering.
The boat itself has a lot of character, it dates originally from 1897 and has been modernized with a rustique design and it now provides all daily comfort. With 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an equipped kitchen and a cosy living room it offers you everything that other real estate can too.
I took the liberty to discover living on the boat for a couple of hours in order to tell you about my experience, I must say that I was really enjoying standing at the helm, I felt like Keira Knightly in Pirates of the Caribbean. To be honest, I don't think a pirate's life is for me but I believe that this could be amazing for people who love to be connected to the water.
The amazing view is not the only bright side to buying a boat, there are some other advantages that you can take into account. For starters, you don't have to pay the registration tax that you read about in my previous article, and there's also no notary story here. Secondly, if you want to discover the world, you can just take your home with you! Okay, I have to admit that this boat isn't really suited for world domination but other houseboats might.
A minor setback could be that it is not as easy to get a loan for the purchase, because it's not qualified as real estate.
Anyways, it's just fun to be living the boatlife, it could even be your second residence. Everyday feels like a holiday!
